ABOUT US
My name is Ruth Montgomery-Boge. My husband Randy and I live on 5 acres in the rural dairy community of Tillamook, Oregon. We are both retired and our family of English Springer Spaniels are like our children.
In early 2000, before I retired from Chinook Winds Casino and Resort, I decided that it would be wonderful to raise quality Bench Bred English Springer Spaniels. I grew up with our family owning many breeds of dogs but the ones that made the lasting impressions, were the English Springer Spaniels. My first Springer pet was "Patty". She was a show dog that was imported from Florida. The man that owned her decided that he wanted our family to have her, so we took her home with us. I am sharing a picture of "Patty" and I, that was taken 70 years ago (top of this page). We were going to be in the local July 4th parade, dressed up as early settlers. Cowboy hat and britches for "Patty" and a long dress and bonnet for me. That was the start of owning several Springer Spaniels over the years.
My son Robert and daughter Suzanne, grew up with a very smart Field Trial x Bench Bred English Springer Spaniel female named "Chrissy". We allowed her to have 2 litters of puppies. One was 15 puppies and the other 16 puppies. It was because of her, that we are now VERY cautious of the deadly Parvo Virus. We took her to a local vet office for an exam and she and all 16 of her puppies contracted Parvo Virus. With a lot of work, we were able to save 12 babies. Chrissy lived to the ripe-old-age of 17 years.
As the years passed, we owned Labs, teacup Poodles, a standard Poodle, and an Irish Setter.
Once I made up my mind to retire, the search was "ON" to find good quality breeding stock to exemplify the standards that "AKC" sets for the Bench Bred English Springer Spaniel. We haven't regretted our choice.
