English Springer Spaniels are medium sized dogs. They can grow up to 20 inches tall (both male and female) and our dogs are between 38#s and 45#s.
English Springer Spaniels are medium size dogs with moderately long coats and featherings on the legs and tail. These dogs have a strong sense of smell and the Bench bred springers(show dogs)are sometimes used for hunting, also. They are great family companions, with super friendly attitude; they are intelligent, easy to train and are always eager to please its master. Adorable as these beautiful creatures can be, they are highly sociable, are more laid back than the hunting Field trial springers and enjoy spending time with people of all ages especially with children and handle the company of other pets well with proper training. I call them my "velcro" dogs. They like the constant companionship of their owners and can't be housed away from family in an outdoor kennel. Their constant tail wagging and smiles, make the springer spaniel irresistible. Although the Bench bred English Springer Spaniels are more laid back, than the Field trial Springers, our dogs are playful, well mannered and energetic with exceptional stamina and needs moderate amounts of activity for its exercise and to stay sharp. The English Springer enjoys long walks, jogs, hikes. They love water and enjoy an occasional dip in the water. Kids willing to spend an afternoon playing catch with a Springer can expect a best friend for life.
Although it is well known that the female English Springer Spaniels are extremely adorable, sociable and make great pets, questions arise for the males. One of the most frequently asked questions is whether to buy a male or a female English Springer Spaniel. This is because it is believed that males have a nasty dominant temperament with serious aggression, and territorial issues. But this is a MYTH as the males are equally adorable, social and playful as the females. Please read our link on our site ---MALES vs FEMALES. Very informative.
